A throwback to the early days of televisions, the cathode ray tube (CRT) technology used an electron beam to stimulate colored phosphors on the inside of a glass screen.

It is now considered outdated.

Plasma Displays

Plasma displays were popular when LCD TVs were still emerging.

Each pixel in a plasma display contained gas that glowed when stimulated.

However, this technology has also become outdated.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

LCDs are the most prevalent display technology for televisions.

LED (Light Emitting Diode)

AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode)

AMOLED displays use a thin film of organic compounds that emits light in response to an electric current.

This technology provides vibrant colors and deeper blacks, making it common in smartphones and TVs.

Retina Display

Retina display is a term coined by Apple for displays with such high pixel density that individual pixels are difficult to discern at a typical viewing distance.

It aims to create a more natural image.
